Traditional Suzani Embroidery in Uzbekistan has flourished again since the fall of the Soviet Union. Taking inspirations from a contemporary Suzani, this bird with flowers and leaves has been reinterpreted using crewel embroidery stiches.
The linen/cotton fabric provided in the kit has the design printed on and NZ Made Strand yarn is included in the full kit.

Welcome to our Echinacea Glow kit, using a fabric designed by Anna Marie Horner. The Echinacea Flower is also known as the Cone Flower. The fabric is embellished with two simple stitches and 2 strands of stranded cotton.
You will have enough threads to stitch two flowers of each colour. The 30cm of fabric allows you to stitch a bunch of flowers altogether or a number of single flowers for mounting separately. It is up to you.

Midnight Garden
Red hot colour and big heavy dahlia heads, growing up with daisy and lobelia. When I can’t sleep at night I think about my garden at the bach. I name all the plants I can think of, and plan what I’m going to plant next. So much more colourful than counting sheep!

Fantasy Tree Pink Embroidery

I come from South Taranaki where the trees are all windswept in one direction so this is a celebration of the effect of mother nature.
The stitches used are blanket stitch, lazy daisy, split stitch, running stitch and French knots.
In the following set of instructions we have described the threads and stitches that we used in our sample. However, please feel free to use other threads and your favourite stitches. This is freestyle embroidery and by varying the methods you use, your embroidery will become unique.
